Training Information

Run the relay of your life! This 12 week program provides all the professional coaching and support you need to achieve a goal you never thought possible, and fundraise for cancer research! Mid week sessions on the track focus on:

  • Running form
  • Breathing technique
  • Core strength
  • Injury prevention

On Saturdays we do a ‘long run’, and the distances increase as the program progresses. Coaches at this distance session will focus on:

  • Pacing and race strategy
  • Distance “in your legs”
  • Mental focus
  • Running form
  • Building up endurance

Occasionally a Guest Speaker will engage the group with professional advice on nutrition, injury prevention or goal setting. You will get to hear first hand from those who have experienced cancer and be encouraged to fundraise by researchers at the forefront of cancer research in Australia. Follow our specific day by day training guide which outlines what you should be doing every day to help you be your very best on race day – suggestions include yoga, spin classes and cross training.

About the Run

The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon RELAY 14km is a fantastic way to be part of a half marathon! Running 14km of the full 21km, you enter with a buddy who runs 7km and together conquer you the 21km!This event takes part in the heart of Sydney. The course takes in such sites as The Rocks, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

If you are travelling, each participant is responsible for organising and covering the cost of their travel and accomodation. Throughout the program you receive recommendations and a chance to travel with those training with you. We have team celebrations together and everyone is invited!

Head to the offical event website for details on race day.

IMPORTANT: Each Can Too participant must enter their goal event at their own expense. Entries often sell out in advance - so first in, best dressed!
