Sydney Sprint Triathlon 2016

The good, the bad, and the ugly

First, the good. I’m less than $300 away from reaching my fundraising target, which is worth celebrating. So, to celebrate as well as smash through that target, I’m proud to say I have bottles of ‘Winner’s Podium’ red, white and sparkling for sale! Up for grabs are a South Australian Cabernet Merlot ($12/bottle), a Griffith Semillon Sauvignon Blanc (also $12/bottle), and a Hunter Valley Brut ($14/bottle), all ready to be enjoyed while I’m slugging my guts out during the sprint tri. And here's how you can get your hands on them.

You can follow this link http://bit.ly/buywinecurecancer and fill out the form, then send it back to me via email, or tell me what you’d like and transfer the money to my account. I’ll place the order with the supplier on the 2nd March and will drop the wine off to you or you’re welcome to collect from my place in Lewisham!

If you’re interstate or not close by then it’s a six bottle minimum (any kind) plus a $9 delivery fee. Again, I’ll place the order with the supplier on the 2nd March - my email and phone number are on the form at that bit.ly link. And, I’m still taking regular donations if your wine collection is already brimming at http://www.cantoo.org.au/fundraisers/Pt10ktri.

The bad. I injured myself a week or so ago whilst on a training run, and as a result had to pull out of this weekend’s goal event in Huskisson. Short story, I got a bit too enthusiastic and twanged something in my left knee. Both a sports masseuse and physio have told me to take a few weeks to recover and to dial my training back to 80%. It’s a huge disappointment, and frustrating too, but considering that a week ago I was limping pretty badly but now have full mobility is encouraging. To stop it from getting any worse though, I need to use a hard, spiky ball on my ITB (a long, thick strip of connective tissue that runs from my hip to knee) to keep everything in order. It’s as painful as you imagine it to be. So, I’ve shifted my goal event to be in Wollongong on 6 March. Expect more updates.

And the ugly? It involves a skin-tight tri-suit that’s very Stupid Sexy Flanders. Beyonce and Jane Fonda would both hike their eyebrows and say “now that’s a bit much”. Enjoy.

I'm training for a Sprint Triathlon with Can Too!

I am training for an event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.

Beginners and experienced athletes alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to run or swim in endurance events- including 10km, half-marathon and marathon runs; as well as ocean swims and triathlons.

In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care and control of cancer. In 2014, our Can Too community has supported 19 early career researchers through Cure Cancer Australia.

Thank you for supporting me!

‘It’s so much fun and I can’t believe I’m going to achieve this goal that I never thought possible. A great program and team support is making it possible. You Can Too!’

Thank you to my Sponsors
