Half Marathon Training starts soon!
So my triathlon training is technically over as my goal event is 7th Feb, I still have another sprint triathlon and an olympic triathlon within the next month but am looking for the next challenge. I have commited to train for the SMH half marathon with the amazing organisation that is Can Too!
Sprint Triathlon
Some of you may already know the incredible*story so apologies if you have heard it before.
Like many English people in Australia when I first moved here I couldn't swim. I wouldn't drown in a pool but I was far from putting my head under by choice. After intensive training with Can Too I completed multiple ocean swims last summer, something I never thought possible.
I’m out to push my limits again and help raise funds for cancer curing research by training towards an Olympic distance Triathlon; 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run. So far I have completed an enticer and a sprint triathlon and have signed up for 2 more sprints in February and an OLYMPIC in March, eek!
I knew very little about triathlons and thought anyone who wanted to swim then ride a bike and run whilst wet was absolutely mental. I am now one of those crazies, loving every minute. What a difference a year makes.

Triathlon Distances
Enticer: 250m swim, 10k bike, 2.5k run
Sprint: 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run
Olympic: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run
Training is super intense, in the past 2 and a half weeks I have swam over 10k, ran 36k, cycled almost 80k, participated in 3 yoga classes, 2 pilates classes, a barre class, 2 boxing classes and a HIT class. This includes a 2k swim in Sydney harbour by the opera house with the sharks, a traumatic bike fall and the fastest kilometre I have ever ran in my entire life! I'm training with Can Too for the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon!
I am training for an event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.
Beginners and experienced athletes alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to run or swim in endurance events- including 10km, half-marathon and marathon runs; as well as ocean swims and triathlons.
In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care and control of cancer. In 2015, our Can Too community has supported 14 early career researchers through Cure Cancer Australia.
