Cancer Research saved my life and today I'm competing in the 2016 World Marathon Challenge
I am absolutely thrilled to be an Ambassador for Can Too. It's a fantastic foundation that engages, and inspires individuals to push their boundaries, train together, and all while raising much needed funds for cancer research.
In February 2007 at age 42, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Ovarian cancer. This was a life changing moment for me and my family, and I'm incredibly grateful I received the most up to date care because of the latest research. Today I am very thankful to be in remission.
In 2012 I first started training for a 4km fun run, today marathon running has become my passion, and in January 2016 I'll be running in an event called the World Marathon Challenge - this entails 7 marathons, on 7 continents in 7 days! (Yes you read that correctly!) I'll be running and flying around the world in 168 hours! The first race starts on the 23rd of January 2016 in Antarctica, then heads to Chile, USA, Spain, Morocco, Dubai and finishes in Sydney, Australia in the early hours of Friday the 29th of January 2016.
At the moment I'm training hard : clocking up the kilometres and mixing things up with swimming and running on the soft sand at the beach!
I'm really passionate about raising cancer awareness, encouraging people to become fitter and finding the adventure in life, while at the same time raising funds for research for all cancers through Cure Cancer Australia, and the Cancer Council NSW.
