I'm supporting cancer research and prevention with Can Too Foundation.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This means that potentially someone we love may have to battle cancer, and that’s a statistic that needs to change.
So I asked myself, “what can I do to help?” That’s where the Can Too Foundation came in! Can Too provide professionally coached training programs for participants – of any fitness level – to run, swim and cycle their way to a healthier lifestyle and a cancer-free world.
In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care, and control of cancer. Since 2005, Can Too Foundation have trained over 15,000 participants, raised over $21,000,000 to invest in 168 one-year cancer research grants.
It would be fantastic if you could sponsor me, or even better join me in a program!
Thank you for your support!
So what's next?Thursday 31st Oct
You will still see this Cantooer training... and fundraising.
Our group aimed for a $28,000 fundraising goal but smashed it out of the water with a whopping $64,000 raised.
A big THANKYOU to those who were able to support the 10km marathon swim for cancer research and prevention.
Donations are still being accepted...
Till next fundraiser... thankyou.
... Spirit of CanToo... another 5km...Thursday 31st Oct
In true CanToo spirit, teammates and I completed another 5km ocean swim 2 days later.
Are we mad? Nope, just kind and passionate.
The day had perfect weather, calm waters and the marine life was gentle.
CanToo founder, Annie, teammate Hannah and I swam as "wingwomen"to support our fellow teammate who had to pull out from the 10km swim due to being circled by sharks!
The smiles say it all... she achieved her goal.
Fiji TV loved the teamwork... so CanToo has also made a positive impact on Fiji's 2019 Ocean Swim.Share
... if only all oceans were this clear...Thursday 31st Oct
Call us CanToo fundraisers crazy, but 2 days later, we took to the clear waters of Fiji again...Share
...10km became 13km...Thursday 31st Oct
As the day drew closer so did the dark clouds across Fiji's pictureque skies.
The day brought many challenges not just an enduring 10km ocean swim. The sea conditions were a little rough, which put pressure on any swimmer's body.
Along with tackling the current, sea lice and a "wake up" stings from jellyfish, I was able to complete the ocean swim.
I was fortunate not to come across any sharks, however, a CanToo teammate did, and was pulled from the swim.
The initial swim was marked for 10kms, but of course, due to drift of the buoys, it ended up being a massive 13km swim.Share
2019 Mana Ocean Marathon SwimThursday 31st Oct
On 17 October 2019 I completed a 10Km marathon swim in Fiji. The swim was to raise funds and awareness for CanToo Foundation, providing much needed funds for cancer research and cancer prevention through Cancer Council.Share
Training UpdateTuesday 17th Sep
Training has really ramped up in the last few weeks... on target for the 10km October 2019 marathon swim in a little over four weeks time.
Plenty of laps, plenty of hydration and plenty of laughs amongst the CanToo group.
I'll upload some photos... every marathoner has come a long way...
Thanks to everyone sponsoring!
