The Toucan Collective

The Toucan Collective represents a group of like-minded supporters who share our vision to promote health and well-being, and to support early-career cancer researchers in Australia.

CanToo and the CanToo community have worked tirelessly over the past 20 years to directly fund early-career scientists to make critical breakthroughs in cancer research. We are so proud of all we have achieved so far.

But there is still more work to be done.

So many people in Australia are still impacted by the devastating effect of cancer, whether this be through their own cancer diagnosis, or that of a loved one.

CanToo aims to double our impact over the next 5 years. This means more programs in more locations, so that we can help more researchers with their groundbreaking research and support the health of more people across Australia.

The Toucan Collective are a group of key supporters who will help us achieve this ambitious target.

Members of the Collective pledge an annual contribution through philanthropic giving, fundraising via program participation, or a combination of both, enabling us to grow and expand our programs. This ultimately empowers CanToo to raise more funds for early-career cancer research and make a tangible, positive difference to the lives of people affected by cancer in Australia for years to come.

How you can help

CanToo’s dual mission is unique because it allows participants to challenge themselves, reducing their own risk of getting cancer, as well as support the incredible research of emerging scientists in Australia.

Currently, the Australian government funds just 16% of cancer research applications, with less than 15% of those grants going to early-career researchers. We cannot afford to lose the potential contributions of the brightest scientific minds due to a lack of funding.

By expanding our programs in NSW and beyond, we will be able to empower more people in Australia to achieve their health and fitness goals and increase our capacity to fundraise for early-career cancer research, filling a significant gap in the cancer research space.

By becoming a member of The Toucan Collective, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring CanToo can make a difference. You will be investing in our long-term sustainability, so we can grow, innovate, and challenge ourselves—so that together, we can challenge cancer

How it works

Members of The Toucan Collective provide an annual pledge to CanToo in support of our dual mission of health promotion and early-career cancer research. These members represent some of our most dedicated community supporters.

By joining The Toucan Collective, you’ll witness the tangible impact of your investment. The Collective is unique as you can opt either to make a philanthropic contribution, fulfill a fundraising pledge, or do a combination, which means that anyone who is passionate about the fight against cancer can join.

Members will receive exclusive invitations to visit research labs, meet our early
-career cancer researchers, and participate in select CanToo programs.

We invite you to join us in this exciting new chapter. Together, we can empower more people in Australia than ever before to challenge themselves, and challenge cancer.
