By joining the Can Too Foundation board, Mark combines his love of outdoor activity and his drive to give back to the community for a cause close to his heart.

Antoine van Oijen, PhD
Research Committee Chair, Non-Executive Director
Antoine is a leading researcher working at the interface of medicine, physics, and chemistry to develop tools that allow us to better understand what goes wrong at the molecular level when cancer strikes. He has led research programs at Harvard Medical School, the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, and the University of Wollongong. Currently, Antoine serves as the Associate Dean of Research at the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health.
Antoine’s contributions extend beyond academia; he has a strong track record in biotech commercialisation and strategic leadership, evidenced by his advisory roles in world-leading genomics and proteomics companies. Antoine is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In his role on the board of Can Too, Antoine brings a wealth of experience in translating scientific discovery into real-world health impacts and a passion for supporting early-career researchers on that journey.

Ben Buckingham
Non-Executive Director
Ben has been doing Can Too programs for the last 15 years as a participant and Can Too mentor, completing marathons, half-marathons and swims. Whilst Ben is a keen runner, doing the Big Swim program was the first time that he really lived the Can Too ethos and pushed himself out of his (psychological!) comfort zone.
Ben is the founder of Primary, a software company focused on helping companies manage payments and treasury. Ben started his career as a banking and finance lawyer at Allens and worked at McKinsey & Company as a strategy consultant, before joining a start up - Identitii - as their Chief Product Officer to help reduce financial crime and promote inclusion in financial services.
Ben is passionate about supporting early-stage cancer research and the impact Can Too has on reducing the need for talented researchers to leave Australia to get funding. Ben is also passionate about bringing practical problem solving to help grow Can Too's impact on the community by driving positive health outcomes.
