If you don't want to rely on the luck of the draw, you can apply for a charity place with CanToo!
You will need to commit to raising a minimum of $3,000 to support our vital work, from funding new and innovative cancer research, to helping us to provide ongoing training programs, keeping more people fit and healthy across the country.
Spots are limited and subject to application approval and availability. We recommend applying early as applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

How you'll be making a difference, as part of Team CanToo
CanToo’s dual mission is unique because it allows people to challenge themselves, reducing their own risk of getting cancer, as well as support the incredible research of emerging scientists in Australia.
Many researchers simply aren't getting the funding they need to get started on their work. Researchers with brilliant ideas, that could one day lead to a treatment, prevention method, or even a cure for cancer.
By taking on the 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon for CanToo, you're part of something even bigger than Team CanToo, because you'll be helping to make a difference to the lives of people in Australia and around the world.

How can I apply for a CanToo charity place?
Click here to head straight to our application form. Your spot is not guaranteed, as we have a limited number of charity places available. However, we do recommend applying early, as we will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis.
What happens if I get a CanToo charity place?
You will be notified via email if you have been accepted for a CanToo charity place, and will receive a link to your fundraising page. By running for CanToo, you will need to raise a minimum of $3,000. These funds will support our vital work, from helping to fund new, innovative cancer research, to helping us run our ongoing programs to keep people fit and healthy in Australia.
Is this different to CanToo's Marathon Program?
Yes! These charity places offer entry to the 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon event. Our usual Marathon Program is a training program, supporting CanToo-ers to get finish-line ready for marathon events (whether Sydney, or another marathon!). Our Marathon Program does not include entry to any marathon event.
Will you be offering a Marathon Program?
Yes! If you are accepted for a charity place with us, you will still need to pay our program fee to take part in our training program, to help cover program costs. However, you will not have any additional fundraising target - we reckon your $3,000 is plenty to focus on!
If you manage to bag yourself a ballot place, but want to take part in our Marathon Program, you will be required to pay our program fee and hit our minimum fundraising target for the program, just like all our other programs! Keep an eye out for more info in the coming months.
If I have a CanToo charity place and take part in your Marathon Program, do I have to fundraise for both?
You will still need to pay our program fee to take part in our Marathon Program, to help cover program costs. However, you will not have any additional fundraising target - we reckon your $3,000 is plenty to focus on! More details on our Marathon Program will be shared in due course.
What's the deadline to apply for a CanToo charity place?
There is currently no set deadline to apply for a CanToo charity place. However, our spots are limited, so we recommend applying sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. If spots fill up, you will be added to a waitlist.
How do I apply for a ballot entry?
The public ballot is currently open until 23:59 AEDT, Friday 17 October. You can enter the ballot here and select Can Too Foundation as your charity of choice.
When are the ballot results announced?
The organisers of the TCS Sydney Marathon are due to announce results of the ballot on Wednesday 29 October via email, throughout the day.
What happens if I apply for a CanToo charity place but get accepted in the ballot?
Congratulations if you're lucky to bag yourself a spot via the ballot! If this happens, just let us know.
With a ballot place, we'd love for you to still support CanToo on your marathon journey, but you'll be able to set your own fundraising target!
We can then give your charity place to another wonderful CanToo applicant in our waitlist and grow Team CanToo even further!
If I have a ballot place and take part in your Marathon Program, do I have to fundraise?
When you set up a fundraising page to support us with your ballot place, you will have a target of $600 on your fundraising page. However, we will be grateful for any amount you can raise to support our work.
If you choose to take part in our Marathon Program, you will be required to pay the program fee and hit out minimum fundraising target for the program, via our own fundraising platform.
Keep an eye out for more info in the coming months.
