SMH Half Marathon 2016 - Sydney

Help me raise money for cancer research & treatment! I'm training with Can Too for the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon!

Hello and thank you for coming to visit my page.

I am training for an event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals. Here you can follow my progress.

In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care and control of cancer. In 2015, the Can Too community has supported 14 early career researchers through Cure Cancer Australia - no mean feat!

Thank you for supporting me and this great cause - and remember good donaters make good lovers :)

Hi There!

Thanks for tuning in!

So, today was HARD!! So many hills! Today was a 40min run, which means run 20mins and turn around, trying to beat your time on the way back (negative split). I love a bit of comeptition to keep me going, especially against yourself!

We started under the bridge, headed past Luna park along the boardwalk up through the park near Wendy's secret garden and hit our first hill. It seemed never ending...!!! We then emerged up on Lavender street to make left in front of key milestone 'The Commodore', then a nice responsible cross through the pedestrian crossing, left down my st (Mitchell st), then a long right up through Dombarton st - the backs of MacMahons point and JUST as I was coimng out to the waters edge again, it was time to turn around and pick up the pace back to base - aka race your self back.

So, the great thing about running back where you came is that you have full confidence in your route. The bad part is that you know exactly where the hills are. My street (Mitchell street) really was putting me to the test. I did cave and slowed to a walk for a grand total of about 10seconds just before I felt like I was going to internally combust.

My final time was 36 mins and 19 seconds - I beat myself home by 4 minutes + a slight walk, woo! Check out the run data here - so interesting! p.s. the GPS got lost on the way back a little, please ignore, I didn't fly I promise!
