Training after travelling for work
Saturday 11th Jul
Today was my first training session with the group after being away for 2 weeks and I was concerned about how I'd keep up with the others given I've been missing the training sessions which are great (OK mornings on a wet park are not great but do-able).
I managed to sneak in a few short and long sessions overseas while travelling (i have included a picture of a beautiful corso of the european city I ran in) so today was a bit of a test to see how I would be placed.
It was 5 degrees this morning and a dense fog enveloped all of Sydney today and my run from iron cove bridge to the fish markets was amongst the fog - I couldn't even see the Anzac bridge it was that thick.
By the return leg I was struggling a bit but was helped by an experience Can-Too'er who gave me some words of support and we ran the final 5Km back home.
Nikki our coach was great, a great motivator, keeps things simple and easy and pushes everyone along - thank you to Nikki !!!!
After 24 hours of travelling and sitting still I managed to get out and run
Monday 22nd JunAfter a long 21 hours of 2 flights to get to Europe, the weather was nice and warm and it was a choice between going to sleep or going for a run and I chose to run.
After saturday's training run which was great, I wanted to get out and stretch the legs and it seems running in the middle of the city at lunch time was a bit like running in the city to surf, avoiding people and trying to plot a clear path.
I'll try to get back to the training program tomorrow ....
I'm training with Can Too for Blackmores Sydney Running Festival Half Marathon!
Wednesday 3rd JunI am training for an event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.
Beginners and experienced athletes alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to run or swim in endurance events- including 10km, half-marathon and marathon runs; as well as ocean swims and triathlons.
In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care and control of cancer. In 2014, our Can Too community has supported 19 early career researchers through Cure Cancer Australia.
Thank you for supporting me!
‘It’s so much fun and I can’t believe I’m going to achieve this goal that I never thought possible. A great program and team support is making it possible. You Can Too!’
Thank you to everyone who has made a donation towards my goal
