2025 Summer Ocean Swim 2km

I'm supporting cancer research and prevention with Can Too Foundation.

This summer I am challenging myself to swim the furthest I have ever swum (2.8 km!!) to raise money for Australian Cancer research. I will be doing the Big Swim - a swim starting from Palm Beach and swimming around the headland and landing in Whale Beach.

I'm raising money for Can Too who support Australian Cancer research across all cancer types, including rare cancers. Can Too support early career researchers with grants for research projects. While the swim and the big waves will be tough and scary, it will be no where near as hard as a cancer diagnosis.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and that's a statistic that needs to change.

Can Too provides professionally coached training programs for participants of any fitness level to run, swim and cycle their way to a healthier lifestyle and a cancer-free world.

In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care, and control of cancer. Since 2005, Can Too Foundation has trained over 22,000 participants and raised over $30,000,000 to invest in over 150 cancer research grants.

It would be fantastic if you could sponsor me, or even better join me in a program!

Thank you for your support!

My Updates

I can't believe I did it!

Tuesday 4th Feb
Last weekend I completed the Big Swim and swam all the way from Palm Beach to Whale Beach.

Have you ever seen anyone look so happy to be on dry land??

The race

Tuesday 4th Feb
The night before the race I was a bundle of nerves.. even though I knew I had trained well and was prepared for the challenge. I was so happy that my training buddy Laura agreed to swim with me so that I would have company while I was out in the ocean.

Once we jumped in and got past the break, muscle memory kicked in and it was time to swim! Once I got out there I realised that it was very choppy and difficult to see what was ahead or around me.

After what felt like forever we finally saw Whale Beach around the headland - but there was still a way to swim. When we got to the final buoys before the break at Whale Beach... I was so grateful to see a friendly face in coach and lifesaver KG (Kieran), who was floating in the ocean beyond the break to support the racers heading in.  KG reminded us of our training for the big waves and urged us to the finish.

It took me just over 80 minutes to complete the swim, and I am so proud of myself for finishing.

Thank you to everyone who has made a donation towards my goal
