one week to go
So im up at 430am today to ice my calves before I hop into the pool this morning. Unfortunatley I've now found out that if you ski for three weeks straight and then come back and try to bust out a run well frankly it hurts. Worryingly for me though is the fact that out of the three disciplines, running, bike and swim, the only one Im even vaguely any good at is running. So when I have to crab walk down the stairs a week out from the event I have to say Im slightly worried. Nonthe less I shall persevere. Off to training I go. #thisiscantoo.
Week 4. Things are getting serious....
I can't tell you how hard it is to get to Wednesday night training. When you've picked up the kids got them fed and dressed n their pj's and all you want to do is get into PJ's too then you arrive at track AND......Two and a half minutes of burpees. This is seriously NOT fun but I did them. 37 of them to be precise. Followed by 3km of running at speed where I decided to tail the fast pack. Honestly what was I thinking? Managed to run faster than I have ( nauseau was involved) whilst listening to Ed Sheeran blasting across the park and trying to outrun the storm. I did get to see some spectacular clouds and managed to get into my car just as the electric storm starting pulsing through sky.
Back at home I arrived to find all hell broken loose. Our babysitter is trying to calm our 10 year old whilst she is having a major breakdown about leaving her school and best friends. Miss 6 is holding onto her tummy claiming stomach pains and Mr 8 is crying massive heartfelt sobs because he's just realised ( 2 years on) that our dog will never see her mother again. It's 9pm. My alarm is set for 445am. This is not giong well. At 2am I have 2 children in my bed and Brett has evacuated to quieter corners. My alarm is set for 445am. Did I say that?
Managed to get out of the house at 545am and into the pool for Time Trials. Obviously didnt learn from last nights experience and decided to tail those fast kids again. A little embarrasing when theyre just chatting at the end of the pool whilst Im still pushing through my last 150m in the pool. Oh well its all experience. Now Im sporting gorgeous goggle eyes and am off to school to see Ashanas end of year concert. Not a great look really. Ah #thisiscantoo.
