Roughly 1 in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. This is a statistic that we need to change.

So, I've decided to take on a personal challenge with the support of CanToo, to raise funds along the way that could be life-changing. From supporting the ongoing health promotion work CanToo provides, to funding incredible, innovative early-career cancer researchers.

North Bondi Classic

Wednesday 11th Feb

Didn’t plan to swim this one but found myself there with a cap and ankle strap and then I was in the water. Rain, wind and chop but I’m starting to realise conditions are rarely ideal.

Completed the 1km and pretty chuffed with myself. Couldn’t have done it without the encouragement from my beautiful friend Juliet and my amazing swim buddy Sarah. Special shout out to Flick our pod mentor for making me believe in myself.

Mock Ocean Swim

Wednesday 11th Feb

So recent tragic events had us all questioning our relationship with the ocean. A number of ocean swim events which were much needed fundraising events for SLSC’s were cancelled.

Thanks to Cantoo and Aquaculture we were able to participate in a mock ocean swim event - 2km or 60minutes whatever happened first - with the generous donation from Sean and the gang to hold the event at the Aquaculture swim centre in Brookvale.

Well I made it to there looking a little like my profile pic and swam the 2km in under an hour. It was a lot but also a whole lot of fun swimming with a great bunch of people.

First Ocean Swim Event

Saturday 10th Jan

I swam my first ocean swim event last weekend - Newport Pool to Peak. Just the 400m which was challenging enough for this little chicken. Huge shout out to the amazing people in my Cantoo pod and the lovely Adrienne who swam alongside me.

Was it fun - not sure about that. Am I proud of myself - hell yeah.
