2026 Summer Ocean Swim

Famously unathletic young woman learns to ocean swim

Dear lovely people, 

This summer I was roped in by my beloved friend, Eezu, to learn how to ocean swim with CanToo - a foundation that gets people out and about and fundraising for cancer research by doing physical challenges. 

Why is this so important to me?

1) I am famously unathletic. But… I love being active, getting out, bonding, having new skills! I only learned how to swim (lmao) a couple years ago and now learning how to swim distance in the ocean is so 🥹🥹🥹🌻🌻🌻🫶🫶🫶🌊🌊 I’m so grateful to learn with CanToo and to make the most out of the beautiful Australian beaches finally!!!!!

2) Like so many, perhaps including you, I have had my life impacted by cancer in my own ways. I lost my dad at 13 and my primary school friend Hayley just a few months later before she turned 15. It is a harrowing experience; at the same time progress is happening faster than you think thanks to scientific research!

I spoke to an oncologist the other day and gently inquired if he found his job exhausting - and he said that these days, his job is surprisingly rife with sharing GOOD news with people. Treatment and even eventual cures to various types of cancer are improving meaningfully.
