'Forward' is not only a direction but also a pace, one step is better than none.
So, here I am, wondering how I can get this out as I am typically a very private person when it comes to donating and going about my sportive activities & challenges, yet, I have decided to publish this.
A variety of reasons have brought me to participate in the Cantoo Hoka Half Marathon program, to challenge myself over a dauntingly long distance (for me anyway), and to ask for donations from those who want to support the endeavours to cure cancer, an illness that, in its various forms, is taking away and impacting too many. Just by joining the training group, I have heard heartbreaking stories, real and raw, from people like you and I, right in front of me. "Real" has instantly reached a very different level of depth.
So, when I am up at 6am?! for training and don't feel like it, when I will be on the track on the 4th of May for my first ever half marathon, I will thank my aching legs, squeeking joints, and pumping heart that they do what they do for me so that I can contribute to a good cause. I am far away from my fittest, but I am determined to get through the race, no matter whether I have to walk, crawl, roll, or can actually run, because when you are affected by an illness like cancer, forward is the only choice you have, also.
So, I will remember that "forward" is not only a direction but also a pace and that one step is better than none.
Thank you for you support !!
