I'm supporting cancer research and prevention with Can Too Foundation.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This means that potentially someone we love may have to battle cancer, and that's a statistic that needs to change.

So I asked myself, "what can I do to help?" That's where the Can Too Foundation came in! Can Too provides professionally coached training programs for participants of any fitness level to run, swim and cycle their way to a healthier lifestyle and a cancer-free world.

In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care, and control of cancer. Since 2005, Can Too Foundation has trained over 18,000 participants and raised over $25,000,000 to invest in over 200 one-year cancer research grants.

This week marks 42 years since the commencement of my nurse training!

I’ve been close to many significant moments in patients lives.

Reflecting on the late70’s and 80’s I recall caring for young mums whom had being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Those mums consisted of a former school teacher, colleague, friend of my parents and others whom I met and and cared for. Sitting by and being with these wonderful people and their families will never leave me. The treatment was tough on all of them and they tried so hard to keep going.

So- Cancer can affect any of us or anyone we know. Let’s do our best to help young doctors obtain grants to research cancer. We all need that help. Thanks
