Easter swell and big day Countdown!
Countdown has begun - 6 days to go!
Saturday was great preparation with a murky 2km swim at Balmoral battling seaweed and fear! Cyclone Tam brought 5 metre waves to Sydney and even typically flat Balmoral had some swell and tiny breakers. In truth I jest about fear as I felt very calm in such supportive company. There’s little room for ego at Cantoo; the amazing mentors and leaders are truly supportive, like a gentle arm around your shoulder. There’s no pressure to swim outside your comfort zone, although stroke by stroke that’s exactly what we are doing.
Florence came with me to the beach and was rewarded afterward by a free Easter egg hunt hosted by Harbourside Church in a nearby park.
Anyone who wants to sponsor Cantoo the link is here somewhere! I’m in awe of the progress cancer treatment has made since I was a junior doctor. This week I listened to a stage 4 lung cancer survivor who has been given a second chance thanks to immunotherapy. Your support makes a difference. Thank you.
Just keep swimming
It getting closer to the big swim day!
I’ve learned a lot from the Cantoo crew.
Have I really put swimming caps on the wrong way around all these years!? The crease runs vertically along head; who knew!? Not I ?
I’ve learnt a lots bout swimming. I feel braver in the ocean. I know there’s a lot more I am still learning. Life in a nutshell.
I am fundraising for Cantoo who fund vital early res reach in cancer treatment developments. Any donations big or small appreciated!
Cyclone Alfred wasn’t in my training plan.
Training in the ocean in various conditions feels easier whilst being supported by Cantoo. I was however pumped to have an ocean swim on my recent trip to Queensland/NSW border. The impending arrival of Cyclone Alfred hampered my plans. Waves were reported as 10 metres high. Experienced surfers were frothing to get out there but I decided to wait until the sea looked more welcoming and I was back in the company of the Cantoo crew!
Ocean “fit and fearless”!
I’ve taken on the challenge of getting Ocean “fit and fearless”!I'm supporting cancer research and prevention with Can Too Foundation.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This means that potentially someone we love may have to battle cancer, and that's a statistic that needs to change.
So I asked myself, "what can I do to help?" That's where the Can Too Foundation came in! Can Too provides professionally coached training programs for participants of any fitness level to run, swim and cycle their way to a healthier lifestyle and a cancer-free world.
In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care, and control of cancer. Since 2005, Can Too Foundation has trained over 22,000 participants and raised over $30,000,000 to invest in over 150 cancer research grants.
It would be fantastic if you could sponsor me, or even better join me in a program!
Thank you for your support!
