First 2km Bondi Roughwater for 2016
Wednesday 13th Jan
I managed to rope a few fellow Cantoo-ers to join me last Sunday for the first of 2 Bondi Roughwater competition swims. I did the 2km and they did the 1km and the competition was pretty strong. But then so was the camaraderie!
I got a bit of a confidence boost when I overtook someone from the wave in front of my age-group, but then this was somewhat down-graded when I was subsequently overtaken by the girls in the wave behind me! Go them and it just gives me more drive to push myself to swim faster in the next Roughwater on Feb 14th.
With a time of 34mins, I think there is definitely room for improvement.
Thanks,
Zander

Pool Training in session!
Wednesday 13th Jan
We are almost finished with our training session at the Cook and Phillip pool, so I thought it'd be nice to share some of the photos that people have taken this summer.
My stroke, form and fitness have improved enormously since we kicked off training in November, thanks in no small part to the great trainers and ongoing drills.
We have had a few smaller pool sessions, with many people too busy over the holiday period, which has meant some great one-on-one traiing for us dedicated souls!
With time-trials in a few weeks, I have my work cut out for me it I want to improve on my previous time of 18:30 for 1km.
Wish me luck!
Zander

Pre-training training :)
Monday 7th SepHi all,
As something of a personal and now public pledge, I am committed to being in the best possible shape I can be come November's training start-date.
As chilly as the water is, I am going to endeavour to get in the pool once a week from now till November. Thats only 9 swim sessions, but couple that with some moring Centennial Park cycling and bloody hard weekly pilates and hopefully I will be in trim shape to bung on the budgy-smuglers and keep pace!
Thanks again and wish me luck,
Zander

I'm training with Can Too for the 2/2.5km Ocean Swim!
Monday 7th SepI am training for an event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.
Beginners and experienced athletes alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to run or swim in endurance events- including 10km, half-marathon and marathon runs; as well as ocean swims and triathlons.
In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care and control of cancer. In 2014, our Can Too community has supported 19 early career researchers through Cure Cancer Australia.
Thank you for supporting me!
‘It’s so much fun and I can’t believe I’m going to achieve this goal that I never thought possible. A great program and team support is making it possible. You Can Too!’
Thank you to everyone who has made a donation towards my goal
