I'm supporting cancer research and prevention with Can Too Foundation. I'm doing this for Ava.
When I started Can Too in Sydney in 2008 I had no idea what was coming my way. I wanted to do something for a worthy cause and I completed over 10 programs, swimming and running.
10 years later my 6 year old daughter, Ava, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. How ironic I thought. I'd spent all those years raising funds for cancer research and now it mattered more than ever to me and my family.
Unfortunately Ava lost her battle with brain cancer in October 2022 after 4 years of fighting like a true warrior.
This is the first time since Ava died that I have felt physically and mentally able to get back up and start exercising and fundraising again. I hope you can support me over the next 10 weeks as I lead a group of 10 fabulous women and train for the 3km ocean swim at Mooloolaba.
With lots more cancer research, I hope one day no family has to go through what we have been through and I hope no mother has to lose her precious child to such a cruel disease.
