Yippee - a breezy ( 1 km )

Then land crew for the hard core 2.8 km swimmers that finish at Whale Beach

25 Jan - ocean practice swim

Saturday 25th Jan

Joined the fabulous crew at Bongin Bay - The Basin at Mona Vale.

A morning swim across the bay - starting near the ocean pool & pausing out off the Mona Vale headland & then returning. Some large waves across the reef & some tough drag. A little murky so limited fish viewing

Tomorrow is a big day - Event Swim time.

Wild seas again

Our final Manly session was cancelled sadly.

Amazing coach Pete gave us a pool set & Fiona lead the charge. I am not convinced she gave us the rest periods between drills ?? it was hard work - here we are relieved to finish ( Warringa Aquatic Centre)

Tues 21 Jan - benchmark pool swim

Saturday 25th Jan

Our second & final 1 km benchmark swim. Hoorah our times improved. With the wild weather & huge seas both swims have been cancelled ( Bilgola Billy swim & Mona Vale/Warriewoood)

Next stop is the swim Palm Beach to Whale Beach on Australia Day …. For me it’s The Little Big Swim ? ( 2.8 km is still a goal for the future)

11 Jan - improv Saturday swim

After A rainy, five days in Sydney, our ocean training, swim at Manly was postponed due to pollution risks. We improvised with a swim at Lane Cove pool, and did a pyramid training drill, I’m proud to say we did a relaxed pace and swam 1.8 km. Thanks to my training buddy Carolyn, we are feeling good.

First swim in a pool for a while… borrowed Kate’s fins for 1 km & then 500 m no fins. Happy with progress post summer cold. Yippee. Hope the summer gin n tonics did not cause too much damage ?

Loving the routine of a daily morning swim with the Macmasters crew. Even feeling clear headed for a New Year’s Day ocean swim. Encouraged Angus to do an extra leg with me ?. Getting some good ocean practice …

A wonderful Christmas morning swim - a family tradition. With the Bongin Bongin bay swim group at Mona Vale. Across the bay starting near the pool & across to the far point out from MV headland. And no flippers - feeling confident with Cantoo training

Dec 21-24 a few ocean swims at Macmasters

Monday 23rd Dec

Wow - a huge swell & big dumpers on Saturday morning at Macmasters. Joined the local SLSC crew & the gorgeous Wendy got me back on terra firma after a huge set. Sunday we joined the points swim & Monday was a gorgeous swim to “Angus’s Craick” and back - note this is a land mark !! Even did a point swim later in the week - a first at macs for me.

Sunday 15th Dec

A bonus swim with my swim buddy Carolyn. In spite of various shark sightings across nsw coast - we bravely swam. A magic Sunday. Calm & still, great fish viewing. Just the two of us - we swam there & back 1.5 km. A first for both of us. Feeling proud!!!

A great pool session again. Terrific benchmark swim. Found ourselves in the 1 km lane vs 500 m benchmark swim. We ( Carol n Val) conquered 1 km non stop in 22 min. Yippee to us

A brave group of swimmers in the overcast weather ( the morning after my work Christmas party ?). With English visitor in tow - we had a great swim. And then the heavens opened again, drenched again racing to the car.

To be dedicated we found other options. Lane Cove pool was fabulously quiet around 11am, a little cloud & rain kept others away. 1 km straight & .5 drills - wow wee!,,
