10 weeks down and the 18 km mark reached!

Well after 10 weeks of training with the Cantoo group we have really reached some amazing milestones, last Saturday on our training run we hit the 18 km mark - this run (shuffle!) was without doubt the hardest physical activity I have ever done. The hill on the return leg near Warriewood was simply nightmareish - for any of my Cantoo runners in close proximity I do apologise for the "colourful" language! Anyway it was conquered and on Sunday I could still walk which was a real bonus. The actual Half marathon is coming up fast now - with only 4 weeks to go until the big day, Sunday 17 May. I have to thank our amazing coach Bec and also the Cantoo mentors - Dani and Fiona, you all do a great job. Gotta run! Andrew
Week 5 and still plodding along

Hi All
Well I am now at week 5 of my training and last weekend was a real milestone for me - I ran (plodded/shuffled/huffed/puffed) my first ever double digit distance, 10 kms! This was around the beautiful Narrabeen Lakes circuit and I was so pleased and chuffed to have made it.
I am so lucky we have some great supportive Cantoo pod members and coach Bec is amazing - her guidance and advice is just golden, mind you when she says "relax into the run" I am so amused, how can you relax when you are gasping for air! Anyway to have such guidance and training is amazing - thank you Bec!
For all my wonderful sponsors - a big THANK YOU! I am so blessed and I can't begin to tell you how proud I am to be running this for you and Cantoo. The messages of encouragment are really driving me to do all I can accomplish this challenge.
Onwards and upwards
Gotta run!
Andrew
PS: To my neighbours and friends who have commented on my "Cliffy Young" running/shuffling style, thank you - NOT! OK the truth does hurt sometimes! Ha!
Off & running!
First up - I never thought of myself as a runner and well if you saw me over the past 2 weeks at Cantoo training you would have to agree with me, running is such a loose term, I am a shuffler at best. However over the next 12 weeks I am going to do my best to learn and improve - I am so lucky to have a wonderful and amazing coach in Bec. My fellow Can Too half-marathon team members are also so supportive and inspirational.
Week 1 we learnt some basic running drills and stretches, this was followed by a 4 km leisurely run on Saturday!
Training this week (week 2) entailed a 3 km time trial - I huffed and puffed my way around that distance - whilst it was not a race I finished in the last 4 or 5 runners (out of 20 or so) - Fletcher (my 11 year old) asked me on Wednesday night how I went and when I told him he piped up and said well that is awesome Dad you are in the "top 75%" - God bless his positivity!
This Saturday we are off on a 5 km run - more huffing and puffing I am sure - lots of laughs and positive support from my fellow runners - bring it on!
Thanks for taking the time to read this update
Andrew
