
With our brand new Learn to Run Program, we'll help you achieve a 5km distance! Never run before? No worries! We're here to support you if you're looking to start your running journey.
When? From w/c 13 October - Saturday 20 December
What's included in this 10 week program: 2x face-to-face training sessions a week led by one of our experienced, qualified and professional CanToo Coaches.
FREE CanToo x ASICS top and cap or visor.
Train in a safe, fun and friendly environment with a group of like-minded individuals.
While you challenge yourself, challenge cancer too by raising $500 to support our ongoing work, including the funding of early-career cancer researchers.
You'll prove to yourself and all your supporters on your fundraising journey that you can comfortably and confidently run a 5k at the end of this program, when you and your pod take on your local parkrun to achieve your goals!

Please note: Your CanToo program fee covers coaching, admin costs and track entry, where applicable. If you plan to take part in an official event, event entry is payable separately through the relevant event website.

We have training pods available in the following locations. Just select your preference when you register.
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 5:45pm - 7:15pm @ Hyde Park (meet at Archibald Fountain)
Eastern Suburbs Pod:
Wednesdays: 6:30pm - 8pm @ ES Marks Athletics Track, Kensington
Saturdays: 8am @ Centennial Park (by the flagpoles on Grand Drive, opposite Federation Pavilion)
Northern Beaches Pod:
Tuesdays: 6:30pm - 8pm @ North Narrabeen Reserve (aka "Rat Park")
Saturdays: 8am @ The Tramshed Cafe, Narrabeen
Inner West Pod:
Wednesdays: 6am - 7:15am @ King Georges Park, Rozelle NSW 2039
Saturdays: 8am @ Kirkbride Carpark (corner of Central Avenue & Supply Road)

Yes! This program is designed to support people who:
- Are new to running, or near-beginners
- Haven't exercised in a while
- Have had previous injuries or joint issues
- Have concerns they aren't a "real" runner - we're ready to prove you wrong!
Our Coaches will be there guiding you along this journey to help you confidently achieve a 5km run by the end of the program.
Your first session of the week will typically cover:
- How to run more efficiently
- Improving core strength
- Proper breathing techniques
- Understanding injury prevention
- Talks from guest speakers
Your second session of the week will typically cover:
- Focusing on running form
- Building endurance
- Improving mental focus
- Working on pacing and race strategy
Yes! When you sign up to our Learn to Run Program, you are making a commitment to raise $500 throughout your journey with us. These funds are so vital to ensure we can continue our work, from our fitness programs to funding crucial cancer research that is changing and saving lives.
To take part in our Learn to Run Program, you will need to pay a program fee of $290 upfront at registration. This covers the cost of all your training, and we think it's quite the deal!
If you're concerned about hitting your fundraising target, don't worry! We will be here every step of the way with tips and tricks to help you reach your goal. Plus, your fellow CanToo-ers that you'll be training with will also be able to share inspiration for fundraising.
We suggest getting yourself started with a self-donation - it'll get you on your way and make your target feel all the more achieveable!
While run clubs can be a fun social activity, our CanToo programs are led by qualified and experienced Coaches with a full training plan provided, to help you reach your goals.
Our program can also offer you:
- Warm up routines (joint prep, muscle activation)
- Cool-down and stretching tips
- Basic mobility exercises for hips, knees and ankles
- Guidance on when to push yourself, and when to rest
- A safe space to run in a friendly environment, from running in a group, to ensuring you're not injuring yourself - your safety is important to us.
