I want to grow up in a cancer-free world

01 Jun 2020

Sadly cancer is a major cause of illness in Australia—there are over 1 million people alive in Australia who are either living with or have lived with cancer. Your fundraising will benefit 11 cancer researchers this year who are committed to finding better ways of treating and preventing cancer.

Can Tooer Sally Strautins shares in the below video that one of the many reasons that she is a devoted Can Tooer is so her children will grow up in a cancer-free world.

One of the important ways to prevent cancer is to regularly exercise. Just 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each day is good for your health and 60 minutes can reduce your risk of developing cancer.

There is evidence to suggest that the more exercise you do, the lower your risk - especially if this is more vigorous physical activity, according to the Australian guidelines on physical activity.

By joining Can Too you not only contribute to a cancer free future by funding cancer researchers, you also reduce your own risks of getting cancer.

Know your cancer risks

We encourage you to take the 5-minute quiz by Cancer Australia to check your cancer risk. As one-third of all cancers can be prevented, this is an important reminder of what you can do, to reduce your risks.
