And we're off and running... I mean swimming.

As we approach the end of week 5, I thought I would give you all an update.

Firstly, thank you so so much to everyone who has sponsored me already. I am so happy with all of your support and generosity. It means a lot.

Next, our squad. What a great bunch of people. It's so good to see everyone encourage and supporting each other at the pool and at the beach. I have encountered a couple of hiccups along the way including; broken/leaking goggles and cramping legs. But everyone is so encouraging, it helps me keep on going. So thank you guys.

This week I also had a reminder of why I am doing this. Dear friends of mine lost one of their closest friends to metastatic breast cancer earlier in the week. It reminds me that statistically I am extremely lucky that I or my immediate family haven’t had to deal with a cancer diagnosis. But there are a number of my close friends that have had to. And doing this program with Can Too is the best way I can show my support and play my part in hopefully finding a cure.

So every dollar you donate means a lot. Not just to me, but to so many people. Hopefully on my next update I will have a couple of pics of me in fine form hahahah.

I'm training with Can Too for the 2/2.5km Ocean Swim!

I am training for an event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.
 
Beginners and experienced athletes alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to run or swim in endurance events- including 10km, half-marathon and marathon runs; as well as ocean swims and triathlons.
 
In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care and control of cancer. In 2016, our Can Too community has supported 12 early career researchers through Cure Cancer Australia and Cancer Council NSW.
