Train With Your Supportive and Inspirational Community to Become Fitter and Healthier

... and help us beat cancer!

About this program

This program is for all runners looking to train in a fun, safe, group environment whilst fundraising for cancer research.

On 6 December you will achieve your goal by running 15km with your Can Too tribe, whether that is at the GC50 in Coolangatta or an alternative challenge.

The GC50 is a friendly and inclusive community event, and all participants will get to experience the beauty of the Southern Gold Coast and all it has to offer.

If you're concerned about your ability, please contact us. We'd love to help you set a suitable goal.

As a registered Australian charity, all our programs fundraise for cancer research — it's an important part of why we do what we do.

Training format

You'll train twice per week under the guidance of you experienced and supportive coach, supported by your Team Captain.

Wednesday interval sessions focus on:

  • learn how to run more efficiently
  • learn proper breathing techniques
  • improve core strength
  • learn about injury prevention
  • hear from guest speakers.

Saturday distance runs focus on:

  • build endurance
  • improve mental focus
  • work on pacing and race strategy
  • focus on running form.

Fundraising

In recognition of the current extraordinary circumstances, we have revised fundraising targets.

By raising $675 you will meet your minimum fundraising commitment and become a Fundraising Star.

If you go above and beyond, you could become a Silver Fundraising Star ($995) or even a Gold Fundraising Star ($1,350)

Fundraising will return to normal in future programs as our economy heals.

What is Bronze Level Fundraising?

In recognition of the current extraordinary circumstances, we have revised fundraising targets.

By raising $675 you will meet your minimum fundraising commitment and become a Fundraising Star.

If you go above and beyond, you could become a Silver Fundraising Star ($995) or even a Gold Fundraising Star ($1,350)

Do I have to fundraise?

Yes, you have to fundraise in return for the support from Can Too as you become a Gold Coast 15km Champion.

Fundraising is in our DNA, we’ve been doing this since 2005 so we have plenty of resources available to help you achieve your fundraising goal. Plus, you’ll have a Team Captain and Mentor/s to guide you through your journey over the 12 weeks of your program.

The best approach is to have a plan and to start early.

Where does the money go?

When you fundraise for Can Too Foundation, you’re fundraising for Australian cancer research and prevention. We focus on investing in early career cancer researchers across all cancer types. We acknowledge that 2020 has been a challenging year, particularly for those directly affected by bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. Can Too Foundation has not been immune to this and current projections indicate that fundraising directed to research will decline during this pandemic as funds are directed to providing training programs and supporting the Foundation. As a registered charity, we will always be careful with every single dollar we spend and completely transparent in our reporting. Can Too Foundation has reviewed and adjusted its strategy and, when economic conditions improve, the Foundation will resume research funding at previous levels as soon as possible. Read more.

What if I don't meet my commitment?

Can Too has been teaching people to run and helping them raise funds for cancer research for over fifteen years.

Over 10,000 runners have learned that if you put your mind to it and work hard you CAN TOO help fund Australia's most promising cancer research projects.

You have until 30 days after your goal race to meet your commitment, and we continue working with you until options are exhausted.

How long do I have to fundraise?

The good news is that you have until 30 days after your program finishes to meet your commitment to cancer research and prevention. You'll have an active fundraising page from the moment you sign up, so our suggestion is sign up early!
