About the Run

The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon RELAY is a fantastic way to be part of a half marathon!  You can choose to run either the 14km or 7km of the full 21km.   You enter with a buddy who runs the alternative section of the route (14km or 7km) and together you conquer the 21km! This event takes part in the heart of Sydney. The course takes in such sites as The Rocks, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

If you are travelling, each participant is responsible for organising and covering the cost of their travel and accomodation. Throughout the program you receive recommendations and a chance to travel with those training with you. We have team celebrations together and everyone is invited!

Head to the offical event website for details on race day.

IMPORTANT: Each Can Too participant must enter their goal event at their own expense. Entries often sell out in advance - so first in, best dressed!

What kind of gear do I need?
At the first training session you receive an official Can Too training singlet/top. You will need running shorts/pants/tights, a hat, good socks and a sturdy pair of running shoes. In the first few weeks of training you receive special discounts with running gear suppliers who support Can Too and we encourage you to purchase any gear you might need from them!

How do I get to Sydney for the event day?
If you are travelling for the event, you are responsible for organising and covering the cost of their travel and accomodation. Throughout the program you receive recommendations and a chance to travel with those training with you. We have team celebrations together and everyone is invited!

How much does it cost to join this program?
Astra Zeneca has kindly covered the fee required to join this program.

How much do I have to fundraise?
The Astra Zeneca SMH Half Marathon Team Fundraising Pledge is $10,00.   You can fundraise as a team and as an individual.
Don’t be nervous about achieving your fundraising goal! You'll be able to access ideas and support as soon as you register, not to mention have a dedicated fundraising mentor throughout the program. As Can Too is primarily a fundraising program, we will need to reach your fundraising pledge 31 days after the goal event. Read more on how to fundraise for cancer research

Where does the money go?
Funds raised go to cancer research thanks to the support of our Principal Supporter The Macquarie Group Foundation, our Centurions and In-Kind supporters. Can Too is a health promotion Foundation supporting Cancer Research through Cure Cancer Australia and Cancer Council NSW.  Read more about how we operate and where your fundraising goes.
