Training Information

Run for the fun of your life! This 10 week program provides all the professional coaching and support you need to achieve a goal you never thought possible, and fundraise for cancer research! Mid week sessions on the track focus on:

  • General fitness
  • Breathing technique
  • Core strength
  • Injury prevention

On Saturdays we do a ‘long run’, and the distances increase as the program progresses. Coaches at this distance session will focus on:

  • Pacing and race strategy
  • Distance “in your legs”
  • Mental focus
  • Running form
  • Building up endurance

Occasionally a Guest Speaker will engage the group with professional advice on nutrition, injury prevention or goal setting. You will get to hear first hand from those who have experienced cancer and be encouraged to fundraise by researchers at the forefront of cancer research in Australia. Follow our specific day by day training guide which outlines what you should be doing every day to help you be your very best on race day – suggestions include yoga, spin classes and cross training.

About the Run

The Gold Coast Marathon 10km course runs next to the Gold Coast’s surf beaches and Broadwater and has a reputation as one of the flattest and fastest courses in the world!

Travelling from Brisbane, each participant is responsible for organising and covering the cost of their travel and accomodation. Throughout the program you receive recommendations and a chance to travel with those training with you. We have team celebrations together and everyone is invited!

Head to the offical event website for details on race day.

IMPORTANT: Each Can Too participant must enter their goal event at their own expense. Entries often sell out in advance - so first in, best dressed!

What kind of gear do I need?
At the first coached training session you receive an official Can Too training singlet/top. You will need running shorts/pants/tights, a hat, good socks and a sturdy pair of running shoes. In the first few weeks of training you receive special discounts with running gear suppliers who support Can Too and we encourage you to purchase any gear you might need from them!

How do I get to the Gold Coast for the event day?
Each participant is responsible for organising and covering the cost of their travel and accomodation. Throughout the program you receive recommendations and a chance to travel with those training with you. We have team celebrations together and everyone is invited!

How much does it cost to join this program?
A $120 registration fee is required upon joining the program.

How much do I have to fundraise?
The Gold Coast 10km fundraising pledge is $1000.
Don’t be nervous about achieving your fundraising goal! You'll be able to access ideas and support as soon as you register, not to mention have a dedicated fundraising mentor throughout the program.
