Message from the CEO – August 2018

29 Aug 2018

Dear Can Too,

In my first nine months as CEO, I’ve been engaged in creating an even stronger Can Too Foundation, in conversation with you, our community.

Hundreds of supporters completed our 2018 Community Survey back in June. Your feedback is central to our discussions when deciding how we can best serve you as a community.

So far, in direct response to your feedback:

We’re providing more fundraising support.

You asked for more help with fundraising, so we’re developing a library of practical fundraising resources, available from mid-November for all our program participants to support their efforts.

To make it easier for community members to join forces on big ideas, we’re created a Community Engagement Coordinator role, to connect community members together and directly provide collaborative fundraising opportunities.

We’ve made it easier to participate more often.

You asked for a simplified refer-a-friend policy. For every first-timer you introduce to a Can Too training program, you get 25% off your fundraising. We’ve removed all the sticky restrictions, and more than doubled the reward, to say thank you for being our greatest brand ambassadors.

We’ve made it easier to introduce friends.

You asked for better ways to get friends and family involved. When you join your first Can Too program, you now enjoy a no-risk satisfaction guarantee. If you genuinely give our programs a go, and genuinely decide it’s not for you, we’ll refund your registration fee – no questions asked.

There’s nothing to risk and everything to gain.

We’re fostering new partnerships to fund innovation.

To fund innovation, of our experiences and our operations, we rely 100% on community support and corporate partnerships. We thank the Macquarie Group Foundation for their incredible generosity as our Principal Supporter for 13 years, and a key focus as CEO is executing our sustainable revenue strategy to maintain the longevity of the Can Too Foundation.

If your organisation is passionate about creating healthier communities and investing in hope for cancer patients, I’d love to explore opportunities for collaboration with you.  Please contact me on 0416 227 158 or peter@cantoo.org.au.

We’ve made more ocean swimming available.

Sydney Ocean Swim launches at midday this Friday. Last summer we wrapped up with a record-breaking $628,091 raised for cancer research, and the survey shows you want even more ocean swimming.

Last season lots of people missed out on the Sydney Ocean Swim, so we’ve been working hard over the winter to secure more pools, increasing capacity by over 50 spaces.

If you’re not already on the list, register your interest. We’re expecting this season to sell out even quicker than last season, and we can’t hold spaces!

And we’re taking more action on your feedback.

In the coming months I’ll continue to share key initiatives and actions we’re taking to strengthen our relationship with you, in direct response to your feedback. Our survey will run annually, with the 2019 Community Survey planned to launch around Easter next year.

It’s important to me that, as a community, you know your voices are being heard.

Please join us at the $20 Million Party.

We recently sent out invitations by email to all our supporters, inviting you to celebrate our journey to raising $20 Million for cancer research and prevention, in our final event at Macquarie Group Foundation.

We’re over half-full already, so make sure you let us know you’re coming!

RSVP

See you on track, or at the pool ... did I tell you I'm running a marathon?!
