Challenge Yourself This Year

14 Mar 2018

It’s important to challenge yourself and push out of your comfort zone but it’s vital to do so in a safe and supportive environment. As the New Year rolls in, you may begin making your New Year’s Resolutions and for most of us, we ultimately aim to be the best version of ourselves. This often includes various fitness goals or perhaps contributing to a good cause and giving back to the community. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to have a supportive network that will help enable you to maintain and fulfil your personal goals.

Maintain Realistic Goals

Often we set goals that are too overwhelming or not realistic and then months roll by and soon the whole year is gone in a blink of an eye without achieving any of it. Having a supportive team will give you a foundation to lean on, hold you accountable and help one another to find their footing. At Can Too we provide a safe and supportive environment that is structured to cater to all walks of life and fitness levels. This type of program makes it simple for you to embrace your challenges by taking out the hard work for you; ensuring the only work you have to face is breaking a sweat at training each week.

It’s All about Balance

If you’re having to talk yourself into breaking free of your comfort zone and worried you may have bitten off more than you can chew, try implementing training 2-3 times a week until it forms into a weekly habit. Something as simple as a 15 minute walk around your neighbourhood can help! Working towards your goals will bring you closer to achieving them and you will feel inspired by taking action, rather than feeling like you’re sleepwalking through life. While remaining in a state of comfort feels safe, you only truly connect with yourself after stepping out of your comfort zone and realising you’re capable of so much more.

Pace Yourself

Starting a new habit and lifestyle can be daunting at the best of times, but as we all know, we can’t jump straight into an intense work out; our bodies need time to adapt and slowly progress. If you feel overwhelmed by this, look into some exercises you can do at home until you start feeling more comfortable in the gym or outside. Be Patient

While you may feel silly when you first start out, remember that some of us struggle to find our footing more than others, but it’s what we choose to take away from the experience that matters most. Having a supportive network will allow you to reflect on those challenging set-backs and make you feel all the more grateful and proud that you committed to the challenge and came out the other end stronger than you went in. By understanding your comfort zone, you have the power to absorb and internalise it so that when you do challenge yourself, you can do so with strength and courage.
