Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues,
As many of you are aware I have decided to take the plunge and train for an ocean swim. Despite the fact I feel a bit like a duck out of water I am having a great time so far with Can Too Swim and looking forward to the challenge of the Cole Classic in February. At the same time as training for the Cole Classic I am raising money for Cure Cancer Australia.
Cure Cancer Australia funds brilliant young scientists to pursue potential breakthrough cancer research. I really respect this organization because not only does it fund research to find a cure for cancer, but it keeps Australian scientists in Australia, and therefore diminishes our brain drain. Our goal is to fund one scientist in a research institute for one year.
I am swimming for all of my friends who are currently undergoing cancer treatment and in memory of my father who died of cancer at 51.
I would really appreciate it if you could sponsor me for my training and for Cure Cancer Australia.

Hi Everyone,
I’m writing to ask for your support. On September 23h this year, I will be running the Sydney Marathon in aid of a great cause – Cure Cancer Australia.
The Cause
Cure Cancer Australia Foundation funds young scientists and doctors during the early stages of their research programs – often before Government grants are available. The foundation’s Medical Grants Advisory Committee, headed by one of the world’s leading cancer specialists, Professor Martin Tattersall, applies the most stringent guidelines to directing grants to those who hold the greatest promise. To date, Cure Cancer Australia has allocated close to $8 million to unleash the minds of brilliant young researchers!
Visit www.curecancer.org.au for more information.
The Program
I have joined a fund raising program called Can Too Run. Established in 2005 by Anne Crawford, and proudly supported by the Macquarie Foundation, the program brings together marathon first-timers who work together over 20 weeks to raise money and train for what will be a gruelling event.
Visit www.cantoo.org.au for more information.
Yes, You can help!
Your support can help us to reach our goals and thanks to Macquarie, 100% of your sponsorship will go directly to the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation. All donations help, regardless of their value but here are some suggestions to get you thinking:
$20 would cover $1 per week of training (20 weeks)… a donation of $42 would be like $1 per race kilometre (42km)… $64.50 is the equivalent of 10c per training kilometre (645km over 20 weeks)… and $100, well...
All donations (over $2) are fully tax deductible, so get them in before June 30 and claim a deduction in this year’s tax return.
It’s easy to sponsor me online:
Go to the Can Too home page (www.cantoo.org.au) and click on “Donate/Sponsor Online” on the left hand side. After filling out your name and address details, use the “Select Event” drop down menu to select the “Can Too Run Sydney Running Festival”. Under “Select Participant” choose “Peter Seligman”. After you complete the form and make your payment you will receive an automatic receipt of your payment (which can be used for tax deductions).
