Roles and Responsibilities:
Can Too really appreciates the commitment of our mentors as it is only when you have successfully participated in and completed a Can Too program, that you can share the great camaraderie and fun spirit that we hope Can Too will be so well known for......
A Can Too Mentor has truly embraced the values and goals of the program. Can Too is a program that aims to achieve two major goals: complete a perhaps never before contemplated endurance event, at the same time as raising money for Cure Cancer Australia. It embraces camaraderie, fitness and fun in an atmosphere of support, both from coaches and team mates.
A mentor has several responsibilities and duties within the program, which are performed instead of fundraising.
Champion the values and culture of Can Too and encourage others in the program to do the same. Informally organize after training “pub sessions” and occasional get togethers to help team bonding. Keep the camaraderie, fun and fitness spirit alive.
-
Support all members in the program to achieve their goals, both in terms of fundraising and their swimming/running goal.
-
Encourage participants to commence their fundraising early and give assistance in this area wherever necessary. Ensure that each participant in their mentoring group has half of their fundraising achieved at the half way point of the training program.
-
Contact and support members who are attending training irregularly. Clarify if assistance is necessary for them to achieve their goal. If injury is an issue inform coaches of this so that email contact and advice can be given.
-
Attend every possible training session. Advance notice to be given where possible if unable to attend a session.
-
Hand out snacks after Saturday training sessions.
