I  have been involved with swimming since taking up the sport in 1978 as an 8 year old. After I broke my first Australian swimming record - I remained an Australian Champion, Australian Institute of Sport team member and Australian swim team member from then until my retirement from competitive swimming in 1992.

On retirement I undertook my Level 1 Swimming Coaching Course and have been involved in coaching swimmers, triathletes and ocean swimmers at various levels - as well as being a qualified triathlon coach.

I enjoy coaching and putting something back in to the sport that gave me so much as an athlete. I welcome the opportunity to coach the Can Too Team for many reasons. I feel it will be inspirational to work with so many dedicated people from such a diverse background. I also find the concept of a sporting endeavor with the purpose of raising money for such a worthy cause a very alluring challenge. I not only feel I can give everyone in the team something from my knowledge and experience but that they will in turn give me something back from their ability to show compassion and the strength of their human spirit in working towards a common goal.

TEAM ROTTNEST
On February 16 2008 Colin Marshall & Fiona Tyler will be swimming the Rottnest Channel, which is a very challenging 20km ocean race between Fremantle and Rottnest Island, Western Australia.

As coaches of Can Too Swim (http://www.cantoo.org.au/Swim-Program-Coaches.html) we have been inspired by the Can Too participants to take up our own challenge.

We have been participating in ocean races around Australia for a number of years now and felt it was time to take on a more grueling course.

At the same time as training for the Rottnest Channel Swim we decided that it would be an opportunity to raise money for Can Too Foundation.

We feel that one way or another everyones life have been touched by Cancer. And feel that supporting this great cause in completing the Rottnest swim, will be our small part in helping the enormous ongoing effort to Cure Cancer.
