Can Too is a non-profit program that matches fitness incentives with a good cause! Beginners and experienced swimmers alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to swim a distance swim. In return, participants raise sponsorship dollars that fund Australian scientists working in cancer research through Cure Cancer Australia. Can Too Swim is for people at all fitness and experience levels who are able to train for their goals in a fun, safe and supportive environment. We will not only provide your training schedule but experts give information about nutrition, injury prevention and race strategy, and of course, the work of Cure Cancer Australia Foundation.
Do I have to be a swimmer?
You can be either a beginner swimmer or a seasoned athlete. Have you ever wished to take the plunge and compete in an distance swim, but been too scared to try? Have you swum in many swims but now would like to take on the challenge of swimming faster, better? Then this is the program for you!
Most people have a basic ability to swim but lacking the technical skills and knowledge to give them the confidence to swim proficiently. The Can Too program isn't designed to teach people to swim. We grade you on your ability to swim freestyle the following distances:
Beginner - less then 200m
Intermediate - less than 500m continuously
Advance - more than 500m continuously
With the help of our coaches, your team-mates and a daily training program, we’ll get you swimming whichever distance you aspire to reach.

What can I do for Can Too?
In return for the professional coaching, we will be asking you to raise the following amounts of money:
- Whether you train in Sydney (2.5km, 2km or 1km) or Melbourne (2km or 1km) you commit to raising $1,250.
Don’t be nervous about achieving your fundraising goal! You will be provided with a Can Too fundraising booklet on the first night of training that has many great ideas and suggestions to help you word an effective email to send to your sponsors as well as creative ways to go about your fundraising campaign. Can Too primarily is a fundraising program. We will need to finalise your fundraising sponsorship account 31 days after the goal event. As per the agreement when you register, any outstanding sponsorship amount will be charged to your credit card - naturally we will discuss this with you first.
How much does it cost to join Can Too Swim?
A $100 joining fee to Cure Cancer Australia is required upon registration into the Can Too Swim team. Everyone on the Can Too team will be signing up for their goal event themselves - the entry fee for your specific goal event will be a cost covered by you. All funds raised go directly to research thanks to the support of the Macquarie Group Foundation Health Supporter Bupa,our Centurians and In-Kind supporters. Read more about it here.
What happens to the money raised?
This is a non-profit program and all proceeds go to Cure Cancer Australia.
Cure Cancer Australia funds researchers working towards breakthrough cancer research. Since 1967, Cure Cancer Australia has provided an essential link between the community and our young Australian research scientists. They provide researchersworking in all areas of cancer with funding support at the start of their careers.
Funding more research grants each year enables Australia's brightest research talent to secure further funding, build on their ideas and continue their vital work in Australia.
